Lau Po Shin

Lau Po Shin (樓寶善, 楼宝善) was born in 1941 in Shanghai. This artist, who learned painting at a very young age, began his career as a photographer. Having had the opportunity to study art twice in France, he worked at the Monnaie de Paris where he created three medals. Back in Hong Kong, Lau Po Shin devoted himself to the teaching of art.

Throughout his journey, he has participated in several public and personal exhibitions on oil painting and etching. In 1994, Lau Po Shin immigrated to Montreal with his family where he continues to dedicate time for his passion: oil painting, etching, ink wash painting, watercolor and acrylic.

Studies

1976 – 1978: 

École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris.
Learning the technique of manual engraving on steel and bas-relief.
Obtained a scholarship from the French government to carry out a one and a half year internship at the engraving workshop at the Monnaie de Paris.

1971 – 1973

Superior course of drawing applied to the art and industry of the City of Paris.
Learning the particular techniques of the art of engraving.

Learning of Western art and Chinese painting with famous artists in China.
